Smurfs The Lost Village was extremely enjoyable! I laughed, I cried and enjoyed the ride.

I received complimentary tickets to view this film however, all opinions expressed are my own.Now that I am a mom, I view movies with a whole new perspective. Smurfs: The Lost Village, was a great movie. It was full of adventure and positive life lessons. Such as, the power of teamwork, finding your true identity, the meaning of friendship and the amazing things you can accomplish when you believe in yourself.I was able to attend the movie with my sister and my 8.5 year old niece. All three of us give the movie two thumbs up. I asked my niece what she thought of the movie. Her response was, “It was fun and very adventuresome.” Sounds like the perfect combination.

The Plot:

“In this fully animated, all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an exciting and thrilling race through the Forbidden Forest filled with magical creatures to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. Embarking on a rollercoaster journey full of action and danger, the Smurfs are on a course that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history!”smurfmovie.com

Things to be aware of:

There are a few intense scenes in the film. The evil wizard Gargamel, and some of the creatures in the forbidden forest may be too scary for small children. I personally will not allow my two year old to see the movie just yet.You should also be aware that there is a death scene. This scene is very meaningful and moving. It actually brought me to tears. If you think this will be intense for your kiddo you may want to warn them that this subject will be in the film ahead of time.

Positive life lessons:

The Power of Teamwork

The power of teamwork was a huge theme in this film. In the first half of the film the boy and girl Smurfs are very focused on their differences. Yet, in the end they are able to put their differences aside and come together to save each other and fight their enemy.

Finding Your True Identity

Smurfette is the only girl in a village full of boy Smurfs. She does not really know who she is or what her life purpose. The boy Smurfs all have names that define them. Baker Smurf Bakes, Joker Smurf Jokes but Smurfette’s name does not tell anyone about her.  Eventually Smurfette realizes that she does not need a name to define her. She embraces her true identity believes she can do whatever she sets her mind to.

The Meaning of Friendship

Smurfette is joined by her best friends on this grand adventure. Along the way, their friendship is put to the test. Ultimately, it is their deep bond that gives Smurfette the strength to do what she must to fulfill her true destiny.

Believing in Yourself

This is a message that everyone needs, no matter what age you are. We all have experienced self doubt at some point in our life. When we ignore the negative thoughts that enter our head and believe in ourselves we have the power to do amazing things! This was my favorite message in the movie.

In Conclusion:

Smurfs The Lost Village was a very enjoyable movie. As a mom, I view movies differently than I used to. No longer are movies just watched for my own entertainment, I am always thinking of what lessons my daughter will learn when she watches the movie. I believe that Smurfs The Lost Village has many positive messages for kids and adults alike. I highly recommend seeing it.

Smurfs The Lost Village opens in theaters on April 7th.
